Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache And Neck Pain

My 12 year old son, suffered from severe headache and neck pain for 3 days, after a trip to the ER we were told it was muscular and to give him Advil. The next day he developed Bells Palsy, so back to the ER we went. They started him on Prednisone, on Thursday but he continues to have severe neck & shoulder pain and I am giving him Advil in large doses... I wonder if this pain will continue during the course of recovery, or should it stop hurting soon. Also, is there anything else I can do for him?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe headache and neck pain . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like cervical spondylosis , cervical radiculopathy , trapezius muscle problem or occipital neuralgia . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination like CT scan MRI and physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and recommend physical therapy or surgery in case of disc problem or nerve entrapment . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for neuralgia .
