Suggest Treatment For Severe Headache And Soreness In The Neck

I am having a very bad headache, my neck muscles are sore and my glands are slightly swollen and sore, but no sore throat. Also my sinuses over my brow area and lower eyes are sore. My throat does not look overly red or blotchy. Could this just be a flu type illness?

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. The headache with neck pain, soreness around eyes and sinus areas could be due to

: Sinusitis
: Viral common cold
: Tension headache

: Sinusitis - It will cause heaviness in head, throbbing pain, increase in pain on forward bending/cold environment, associated with nasal blockade, nasal discharge.

If your symptoms resemble above, it should be managed by

; Avoiding cold food/environment
; Steam inhalation 4 to 5 times daily
; You can take combination of Cetrizine-Xylometazoline-Paracetamol combination after proper prescription
; You can take antibiotic course like Co-amoxyclav therapy after proper prescription

: Viral common cold - Viral infection can cause headache, body ache, low to moderate grade fever, pain in muscles, running nose, fatigue, weakness, decreased appetite.

If your symptoms resemble above features, you should follow above mentioned treatment except antibiotic course. There is no role of antibiotics in viral fever. You can also take Vitamin B Complex and Vitamin C tablets after prescription to increase immunity

: Tension headache - If your headache is dull, diffuse, occurring after doing work/mental stress, occurring for few days without fever or nose blockade, band like sensations around forehead, it is tension headache.

If your symptoms resemble above, you should follow few tips

: Bed rest
: Avoid mental and physical stress
: Head and neck massage
: You should do exercise daily and do Yoga to calm yourself
: Maintain 8 hour sleep routine
: You can take painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription

If still no relief and doubts regarding confusion, you should consult doctor.

Hope it will help you. Thanks.

Take care.
