Suggest Treatment For Severe Headaches

Over a period of time now I have been experiencing a headache that appears randomly sometimes up to 5 times in a 24 hr period sometimes once a day sometimes not at all. With these headaches I can also experience distorted vision, which lasts for a period of around 10mins, where I have to put my head down and just let it pass. My co ordination is also effected mostly on the left side of my body and I also get a numb feeling, like having had a local anethetic from the dentist. This occurs on the right side of my mouth. I have briefly discussed this with my GP. I am worried about this as it can also strike when I have been driving and have had to pull over until it has passed.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to a tension-type headache or anxiety.

Anyway, I recommend consulting with a neurologist for a physical exam and a brain MRI study to exclude any possible brain issues.

Some blood lab tests (complete blood count for anemia, thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction) are necessary too.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
