I have severe heart burn. I have been trying not to take anything to calm it down, but now I have decide to try the Tums Ultra 1000mg. I took it twice and it worked on my heart burn so quick that I was happy. But then I thought of checking the side effects on line and what I saw was scarry. I am now afraid to continue to use it.
I am so sorry to hear about the scary information you got online. Tums is a safe drug, safer than a majority of drugs that you would find out there on the markets. Remember there is no drug without side effects. we prescribe not because of their 100% safety but because the benefits outweigh the risk. What side effect really scared you so that I can address it specifically?
There is a lot the goes into heart burn. You age, duration of symptoms and past history may warrant even further investigations before treatment. I do not know these and would be happy if you can provide the details for a more personalized managment. For now, free safe to continue with tums.
I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more clarification or information if need be. I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD.
