Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain

A female adult has hip pain, a hemangioma in a lumbar vertebrate, and another unknown finding in the MRI of hip, experiences feelings of falling in leg with recent arthroscopy of knee. Could this be the onset of limb-girdle muscular dystrophy or does this sound like another condition?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Hip pain can be due to a referred pain due to some condition in same sided knee problem. Other reasons can be due to a condition like arthritis of hip joint, sinovitis, muscle problems and so on. Muscular dystrophy is usually a painless condition and can be diagnosed by clinical evaluation by an Orthopaedic surgeon, Physiotherapist's opinion, muscle biopsy and so on. I would advise you to have a second opinion of an orthopedic surgeon, further evaluation, investigations to know the exact diagnosis and thus get treated as per the cause found.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
