Suggest Treatment For Severe Infection In The Thumb

My daughter who is severely mentally handicapped has started chewing the flesh on her thumb. Recently it got infected, resulting in a partial amputation. The surgeon said this chewing is actually a rare disease, but he could not remember its name. Can you give me the name and tell me where to find information about the disease. Thank you so very much for your help.

Hello and welcome to Healthcamagic.
There is no specific name of it Nd this is one type of obsessive compulsive disorder. It should be treated with psychological therapy and benzodiazepines for a start. Also, gloves may be put to prevent it.
I hope I have answered your query. I wish yoi a nice day.
