Suggest Treatment For Severe Intermittent Pain When Diagnosed With Secondary Progressive MS
I have secondary progressive MS with all lesions on my spine. I am on maximum dosage of Gabapentin and amytriptyline and still wake up with severe pain in my legs at night, are there any other drugs that may help. The pain is random and does not happen every night. But when it does I am up for a couple of hours until I work through the pain and it tones down.
As per my clinical experience, the acute flare of pain over back are tackled with systemic steroids. Chronic relapse and intention to keep it under remission relate to the use of immuno-therapy as: - Monoclonal antibodies - Mitoxantrone (disease modifying agent) - Plasmapheresis (in resistant cases)
Kindly discuss the details of all possible options available for your case with your treating immunologist during next follow up.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
