Suggest Treatment For Severe Knee Pain Despite Wearing A Knee Brace
I have had knee pain for several weeks. Am seeing an orthopedic doctor who initially diagnosed me with IT Band Syndrome and told me I need to stretch that band out. Gave me an exercise to do but it is difficult. Went for a medical massage and she worked on that IT Band for a good length of time - left me sore and bruised but no better after 2 weeks. My knee is swollen and I have difficulty putting weight on that leg. Sometimes it feels as though my knee will buckle and is very uncomfortable. Wearing a knee brace to stabilize the knee. Pain now is behind the knee and I cannot bend my knee more than about 75 degrees without great discomfort. Concerned now that there is something else going on. Oh, and frequently the lower leg (shin and/or calf) throbs. Can you head me in the right direction?
As a first-line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.
