Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Three years ago I was standing on a small stool reaching for an item at the top of my kitchen cabinet and the stool moved backward. As a result to avoid falling I held on to the counter as my legs went backwards along with the step stool. I straightened myself up and continued doing what I was doing without any pain. The next morning when I woke up I sat on the bed but was unable to get up because my legs were in severe pain. After many attempts I got up but had to use a cane. I was unable to go downstairs for about a week and then the pain went away. I was pain free for about a year and then the pain started coming back gradually. I visited an orthopedic doctor who sent me for an MRI- the result was spinal lunber stenosis. I was then recommended to see a neurologist who sent me for therapy which didn t help much. I continue doing exercises almost everyday but without much help. Can you help me please. Thank you. TRM
you have a diagnosis of lumbar spinal stenosis probably due to the injury you suffered earlier. the conservative way to treat it is physiotherapy exercises and muscle relaxants.
If very severe you can try an epidural block. in extreme cases surgical laminectomy is recommended. also have vitamin D supplements and calcium with vitamin K. continue with muscle strengthening exercises of the back
