Suggest Treatment For Severe Migraine Headache

Dr. I have suffered with migraine for over 30 years and used both tonopan and vasograine, the former provided better relief, but to the cost, tonopan was discontinued and i stayed with vasograine. I usually get an attack twice or trice a week, sometimes a week passed without an attack. Now for the past two weeks, i get an attack daily, especially at around 2:00 am. Please advise what may be happening?

two types of treatments are used to treat migraine
1. acute attack treatment
2. prophylaxis
vasograine, dicolfenac, aceclofenac & other pain killers are used to abort an acute attack of migraine but these drugs donot usually protect you from recurrent attacks.
to prevent recurrent attacks a prophylactic drug is used eg. tricyclic antidepressants, anticonvulsants, propranolol, calcium channel blocker
but which drug suits you and how will these be prescribed, you should consult a nearby psychiatrist because followup for treatment is necessary if you are started on any of the drugs.
