Hello. I ve had a migraine for over a week now. I ve been to urgent care about it and seen my primary care doctor about this. I ve been on MagSalt and another medication that s combined with tylenol and caffeine. During my visit with my primary care, I was also given an injection of toradol and that was on Friday. I woke up on Saturday with a dull but growing headache and it s gotten worse over the past two days. I ve been trying to avoid going to the emergency room, but my primary care has said that if it continued, to go to the ER. I ve only had migraines one other time in my life (as a teenager) and nothing since then. I have constant nausea even with the Phenergan and Zofran they prescribed. I barely eat anything, I do make sure to drink alot though. I also have SLE Lupus, Lupus Nephritis and MDS. I just need advice as to whether or not I should go to the ER tomorrow due to my symptoms.
Hello.. Given your acute severe headache and background of SLE, I would suggest you to get a brain imaging, if not done so far..Also, a fundus examination from an ophthalmologist should be done.. As far as the headache and other symptoms are concerned, you might have what is known as "Status Migrainosus", which is better treated with injections of paracetamol, anti emetics, Stemetil and dexamethasone, along with proper oral/IV hydration.. Hope this clears some of your doubts regarding ur health issue..All d best!
