Yes im 37 yr old male who has always been sensitive to sunlight more than a few hrs without eye protection has always resulted in migrane. Recently say past three months i have been having same issue only its like one to one and half hrs and at least 1 time a week. Whats could this mean?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe migraine headache.Well there can be many reasons responsible for migraine like aged cheeses, salty foods and caffeinated product, food additives, stress, sensory stimuli like light and loud sound and changes in wake-sleep pattern. If you didn't use preventive treatment for migraine headaches, i would suggest you to consult neurologist/general physician once and get it examined. Doctor may prescribe three category of drugs such as antidepressants, antiepileptics and calcium channel blockers. Severe migraine can also be treated by the use of ergot alkaloid drugs. These drugs need to be taken under the supervision of your doctor.
Migraine ... as a cause of headache is done after excluding some common causes, like refractive error, hypertension, diabetes, fatigue and stress. The point to note is the "aura", it is like a premonition that headache is about to come, vomiting, smell may also be felt. So,get these tests done and do a self evaluation before going to the doctor. The record fro atleast 30 days, include e the time of onset, activity done when it came, duration, relief of symptoms, any analgesics taken, any vomiting. This record would help in reaching a diagnosis and plan investigations. but investigations is a must
