General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of sore back for months - GP says just muscle spasm, gave tablets but gone worse for the last 15 days, pain is travelling down the right buttock, can hardly walk, sit or stand; wants suggestions...
He pain going down the right buttock and difficulty in walking and sitting is suggestive of Sciatica pain along with additional muscle spasm as its sequel or complications.
I would advise you the following:
Get a reference for an Orthopedic Surgeon or a Neurosurgeon.
You need an MRI of the back and the lower spine to see for prolapsed discus, inter-vertebral arthralgia, fibromyalgia and so on.
To get an appropriate medications for pain relief, spasm relief.
Bed rest.
If the problems is worst, you may need surgery for the same.
