Suggest Treatment For Severe Nausea

Eleven days ago my daughter went into the ER and received 2 bags of fluid for dehydration. She is still very tired and is having a hard time eating and drinking. She weighs 120 pounds and is 5 8 . Last Monday the doctor put her on an anti-depressant, and acid reflux med and a sleeping pill. She had been experiencing nausea for some time prior to going to the hospital and had been vomiting more often than her father and I were aware. She is scheduled for a gall bladder scan and an echo cardiogram on Tuesday morning. How much water should she be drinking a day now? Is there anything I can give her to help the nausea? Thank you so much.

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of severe nausea which is a very common problem due to excessive production of acid leading to acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux disease. There can be other reasons also like indigestion and ear infection. I would suggest you to avoid spicy and heavy meal specially at night. Eat at least one hour before going to bed, take a light walk for 15-20 mins after every meal. You should take antacid after every meal like gelusil. Treatment of acid reflux depend upon taking medicine and alteration in lifestyle. You should take plenty of fluids. You should avoid intake of outside food. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit gastroenterologist once and start treatment after complete prescription. Avoid taking outside food. You should take oral rehydrating solution as well.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
