Suggest Treatment For Severe Neck Pain And Vomiting With DDD

I have been diagnosed with moderate - severe degenerative disc in my C5-C6 affecting my right arm. Occasionally I get severe pain on my left side of neck running up to behind my eye. The pain will last 3-4 days, is continuous, ranking 8-9 out of 10, my life stops completely I often end up vomiting from the pain. I have assumed it is related to my all ready known condition, but should I be investigating this pain as a separate problem?
