Suggest Treatment For Severe Neck Pain

Hello! I have been having neck pain for about three weeks and now that the swelling has gone down my chiropractor and I can identify one specific area along the spine that is really sensitive. He would like me to get an MRI to see if it could be a herniated disc, but for the last week or so I have felt like there is something stuck in my throat and chest making it awkward to swallow. Could these two be tied together and what else should I be looking out for?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Osteoarthritis is a common cause of neck pain.

I recommend doing an X-ray of the neck to confirm the cause.

Meanwhile, I recommend taking an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen to reduce the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
