Suggest Treatment For Severe Neck Pain

My husband had sudden neck pain which started when he was just sitting in a chair last Saturday, his neck just seemed to click, it has worsened during the week, he went to minor injuries on Wednesday and they prescribed co codamol, which made no difference, Thursday morning he went to our Gp, they prescribe Valium 5mg Tds and naproxen, it does not seem any better today, can you give us any advice, when standing he seems ok, when he lies down, or sits in the chair he finds it very painful, and the pain radiate up the left side of his head. Any help would be much appreciated thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist consult a neurologist and get an MRI neck to rule out spine related problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
