Suggest Treatment For Severe Nerve Pain While Sitting

my friend is having bad siatic nerve pain when she sits down. many people say to get up and walk when it hurts but she is in school and can t get up and walk during class. she s tried stretching and medication doesn t help. any recommendations on how to reduce pain! thanks!

Hi,

Sorry to hear of her pain. Neuropathic pain is quite distressing many times. While initially we treat it with physiotherapy and some painkiller.

Certain drugs like pregabalin or gabapentin are quite effective for the pain.

However, if it didn't improve with these drugs we may need to do surgery to relieve the pain. Your neurosurgeon would decide that after doing MRI.
