Suggest Treatment For Severe Nose Bleed In A 5 Year Old Boy

Hi my 5 year old was running across our hardwood floors, slipped with his socks and whacked the back of his head. A few minutes later he got a nose bleed. It lasted no more then 1 minute and he is fine. I just wanted to check before I take a trip to the ER

Hi Dear ,

As per your query your child has severe nose bleed . Well there can be many reasons for symptome you mention in query like infection , trauma , allergic and non-allergic rhinitis. , hypertension and use of blood thinning medications . Nose bleeding in case od head injury some times become a emergency condition if there are symptoms like dixxiness , vomiting and neck pain . I would suggest you to consult general surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI and do physical examination . Doctor may refer you to neurologist or ENT specialist if he/she fing problem to be related with brain injury or problem related to nose .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
