My 8 year old son has an optic nerve glioma, he had a fall at school yesterday which caused a nose bleed, he has had another pretty bad nose bleed this evening, lasted q5 mins, during this nose bleed he passed 2 very large clots, and his eyes are now bloodshot, is this reason for major concern? Thank you
Understanding your concern. As per your query you child have symptoms of severe nose bleed . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like infection , trauma , allergic and nonallergic rhinitis. , hypertension and use of blood thinning medications . Nose bleeding in case of head injury sometimes become a emergency condition if there are symptoms like dizziness , vomiting and neck pain. Need not to worry. You should touching or picking nose with any sharp object. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI and do physical examination . Doctor may refer you to neurologist or ENT specialist if he/she finds problem to be related with brain injury or problem related to nose .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
