Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain After Suffering A Torn Ligament

Hi I went to A and E suffering high levels of pain from suspected torn ligaments/tendons. i was given two large co codemol tablets (the maximum adult dose- I am a 5ft2 woman who weighs 7st). I rapidly became unconscious and was rushed into a cubicle, put on a drip, oxygen mask and heart monitor as my blood pressure dropped to around 50 over thirty, and did not go back to normal for three and a half hours. After four hours I was discharged, and as i was confused and disorientated by the experience i did not ask what the potential damage to my body might be and what i needed to do to limit this. This was about ten days ago, since when I have been extremely tired physically. I have been resting, eating well, trying to sleep as much as possible and drink lots of water. Do i need to do anything else? I am also dealing with the ongoing pain from my ankle injury and am worried about taking painkillers after my recent experience in case I damage my body further. What is your perspective on this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As there is history of severe anaphylactic shock following intake of analgesic, it is best recommended to avoid much of the pain killers. It is best recommended to take an MRI of the ankle region for the final diagnosis and cure accordingly. If any of your reports are available, kindly share with me as a PDF document during follow up discussion.

Till that time, local application of heating pad and use of analgesic spray or ointment will give best results and would not end up in any untoward side effect as well.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
