Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain And Bleeding During Intercourse
I am a 66yr old woman who went without sex for 20 years. (Late husband was impotent) Last night, it hurt on penetration, and I was staining the bedding with bright red blood. Today every time I urinate it is like passing razor blades - and still bleeding
Painful sex after menopause is mainly due to the lack of estrogen hormone resulting in thinning and dryness of vaginal tissue. Dryness causes friction during sex resulting in tear and bleeding.
The pain during urination is due to the tear that may have resulted during sex which will go away in a few days.
Low dose estrogen cream and tablets will help in vaginal dryness and pain during sex.
Please consult your gynecologist for a prescription.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
General & Family Physician
