Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain And Heavy Vaginal Bleeding

I recently went to the ER with severe pain and a week of unexplained abnormally heavy bleeding. Ultrasound came back with cysts on both ovaries and a 3cm mass, possibly endometrioma-cannot exclude benign or malignant neoplastic process. I was referred to an OB/GYN who says just a cyst not cancer. Radiologist is just trying to cover themselves in the report. Ob/GYN says just wait and monitor growth of mass in 6 weeks. Is this good advice?

Hello,

The cyst may disappear spontaneously. Some doctors prefer to wait rather intervene, in this case. You can also follow him. But in my opinion, you should do some tests and then, a mild treatment can be determined.
1. Lower Abdomen USG
2. Fasting Blood Glucose
3. Blood Routine Test
4. Thyroid Function test (T3, T4, TSH)
5. Liver Function test
6. Serum Ferritin

I would like to ask some questions:
1. Do any of your family member had cyst?
2. Do any of your family member had too much bleeding?
3. Do you any heart disease?
4. Do you have hypertension?

After seeing the result, any doctor can give you a mild treatment to arrest the cyst.
Meanwhile, if you feel too much pain, you can take
1. apply pain gel in the lower back
2. ibuprofen
3. dicyclomine hydrochloride

Do not worry, after the result, I can give cabergoline or GnRH analogue type of medication. You need to have those results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
