Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain And Swelling In Elbow After Injury

My 15 year old son just got hit by a pitch just above the elbow on his tri-cep. He is complaining that he cannot bend his elbow or extend his arm backwards without severe pain. I have seen him get hit by pitches a lot worse than this one, but I have never seen swelling like this. The swelling is already the size of a softball just above his elbow. I already have him elevating and icing. Is there anything else I should be concerned with or should be doing?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to minor contusion or thin fracture.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like Aceclofenac/Serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
