General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Benadryl is the right over the counter medication for your symptoms. Because it did not help with the itchiness and swelling it is now time to see a doctor. So I would recommend you to have a check with your PCP or if you develop any shortness of breath or you get any worse, you will need to go to the ER.
Meanwhile, try to notice what makes you worse as avoiding the triggering agent is crucial in the treatment of allergies.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
