Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Chest And Underarms
I am 75 yrs old and have degenerative arthritis. Three days ago I went to a chiropractor to straighten my back because I had a dislocated disc in my middle back. Laying face down on the chiropractic bench the chiropractor vigorously punched me in my middle back slamming my chest and lungs against the bench causing me to loose my breathe and I laid there in severe pain. I had gone to chiropractors before to straighten my back but recently moved so this was a new doctor. My question is: What is best way to treat the severe pain in my chest and under my arms caused by this visit and how long will this pain last?
The incident might have caused tissue injury and inflammation there, causing pain. This will respond to simple analgesics like paracetamol or ibuprofen. Take after food, 2-3 times a day. We expect the pain to disappear in 3-5 days. If not getting better by then, kindly see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
