Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Chest, back And Shoulder

On January 16 I had a football collision with my teammate at nationals for the USFTL tournament. We collided head, neck, and shoulders resulting in concussions. I had extreme pain in my entire upper right side of my upper body. I continued to play 6 more games over the next 3 days with pain medication after being told by medical staff that it was a stinger. After returning I tried rehabbing the injury but would endure shooting pain in my upper chest and back, as well as my side of head and neck. Eventually the shooting pain was just in my chest and I was able to go back to my normal lifts except for chest. Any type of chest exercise resulted in the feeling of my chest being ripped apart. Note: My max bench press was 465, I can t even bench 135lbs without extreme discomfort. Finally went to the doctor and got x-rays taken because the pain kept returning. Doctor said the x-rays looked fine but I knew something was wrong. A week after getting the x-rays done, I noticed a large bump on my upper right pec. I found out this was my collar bone popping out due to a sc joint sprain. I m currently in physical therapy to see if I can build up enough scar tissue to stabilize the joint to prevent surgery. I m a 25 year old explosive athlete, 5 foot 11, about 200 pounds, about 14% body fat. I m a competitor and I give 110% with everything I do. I love sports, pushing my body to limits I didn t think were possible, and competing against the best. Can I ever return to this level without getting surgery?

Hello,

Your pain is mostly due to the dislocation of collar bone after fracture. This might have resulted in severe muscle spasms that cause immense pain. As all the X-rays came out to be normal, you can go for CT scan to diagnose any minor fracture and any shoulder joint dislocation.

Physical therapy is recommended to strengthen the muscles. Surgery may be necessary correct the dislocation and unite the fractured segments. Surgery would help you regain your original caliber.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
