Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Hip Despite Taking Gabapentin

i have developed a painful left hip to knee and then it switches to right leg and hip..I have had this since jan. 2016. the socket was checked by a nurse, but it seems to be muscle. I had x-rays done in saying some scoliosis present. then mri was used to show something on my ovary.. the pain meds that they are having me take for the pain include GABAPENTIN 600 MG and LORATADINE 10MG. I don t understand what these symptoms could be coming out of the blue for a somewhat fit female at 48 yrs at 5 3 and 117 pounds... Past use of alcohol daily, then a sprained ankle in December 2015.. Today I tried to workout very short and little the pain has just become scale 8. Sitting too long seems to hurt me to get up and then to walk. I have been trying to get some answers to find what I can do or I may be on MEDS for the rest of my life...I believe we can find an answer...I t.y. I m Ann Marie Retterer in need of help.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The treatment of painful hips depends on the cause. In most cases, is is due to hip osteoarthritis or trauma or metastatic bone tumor. No matter the cause, treatment is with different lines of pain medications. Gabapentin is an anti-epileptic reserved for very severe pains.Persistence of pain on this drug will mean other options need to be associated.Other options may include the use of myorelaxants, steroid shots occasionally, physiotherapy or hip replacement surgery. You may also try the following:
-Continue with Gabapentin
-Add a myorelaxant like miorel
-Mild strengthening exercises
-Maintain good weight
-Use heat and cold packs to manage pain
I will however advise you meet an Orthopedic surgeon for evaluation.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
