Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Knee With History Of Injured Knee

Hi 15 years ago I sustained an injury to my left knee. My knee was kicked very hard directly to the outside of my knee and the impact of the kick made the inside of my knee hit a board very hard. I bruised all over but the inside of my leg bruised mid thigh to ankle. It hurt bad but out of shame and embarrassment of being abused I did not seek treatment. I have had trouble with my knee since. Over the last two years the pain in my same knee can be unbearable durring cold weather. I was given a rx diclofen pot 50mg 2x daily doesn t seem to be doing its job I have tried Aleve as well. Please help me find a way to finally get some pain relief.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to post traumatic arthritis of knee. An examination with orthopedic surgeon should be done to rule out this. X ray examination of knee also will be needed to confirm it. In case of positive findings of meniscal or ligament injury from examination a MRI also will be needed. If arthritis i recommend NSAIDs like ketoprofen and local capsaicin gels for pain. Diacerein , Glucosamine and vitamin D supplements and quadriceps muscle strengthening exercises also helps. If there is severe meniscal injury a diagnostic arthroscopy and correction is advised.

Hope this may help you.Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
