hi,
I fell on ice 4 weeks ago and had a t3 fracture. It wasn't initially found with xray and ct, so I tried to work (unsuccessfully for a couple days after) due to increasing pain and muscle spasms and numbness in both hands and arms along my thumb and index finger, (I had numbness in both hands right after the fall and they said I had a "central cord syndrome" which whould resolve. two weeks after the fall, I saw a NP at the local spine center who ordered an MRI, they found edema in the cord at t1-t3 and a fracture. I was started on prednisone which I took for a week and placed in a miami collar 24 hours a day. I followed up at the spine center and was told the xray looked ok and they took me out of the collar this week. My problem right now, is that while I am muscle relaxants and meperidine, my pain is more severe and my left arm and leg are numb most of the time. When I called the spine center they referred me to the ER "if I feel I need to go" I feel a clicking in my back when I move and am concerned the fracture is unstable and compromising my spinal cord. I don't know what to do. I feel I should be getting better, not worse, by now. Should I go to the ER?
