Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Mouth After Tooth Extraction

9 days ago my tooth was extracted. Tooth extraction was complicated , the tooth was in bad condition . Since then , my wound is constantly ached at night , sometimes not even painkillers have not helped . 2 days ago I went to my dentist , he said that the wound looks good , but he washed the wound and put the medicament . He said that the medicament will probably turn the next day . Despite the medicament , wound was still aching . Last night I felt like the medicament is moved and hurt me even more . Eventually I pulled out medicament with my tongue and suddenly i felt a relief . The wound does not hurt me any more , but the wound seems to be empty . Have I destroyed something? I'm afraid I pulled out not just the medicament, but and part of the wound , if it is even possible .
Sorry for my bad english , I hope you understand me. :)

Brief answer: DRY SOCKET.

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain and explanation of symptoms and the treatment provided to you by your treating dentist it clearly indicates that you have a painful unhealed socket known as DRY SOCKET which occurs due to dislodgement of the blood clot that is formed immediately after extraction and serves as a medium for healing to take place..

The treatment that was given to you is irrigation of the socket with hydrogen peroxide, betadine and saline followed by placement of a zinc oxide eugenol dressing that has to be changed every alternate day till the healing is sufficiently progressive followed by antibiotics like Augmentin 65 mg thrice daily and Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice a day for 5 days..

Gradually as the healing will proceed the pain will subside..
You can even consult an oral surgeon and get treated properly for faster relief..

Hope this information helps..
