Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Ears

I cleaned my ear out with a q-tip and peroxide. I loosen the cotton so it isn t so tightly wound. I then put peroxide on it, gently insert into my ear. I feel the peroxide foaming up. I left it in for approx. 2 mins then pull it out. I then put another q-tip in and twist it. done this several times before and has not been a problem. A few days ago it felt like my ear was real moist inside and itched, so I cleaned it this way. Now my ear hurts and I can feel discomfort in my jaw when I chew food. slight pressure with my finger to the outer ear canal relieves the pain. I read the peroxide may have dried my ear out too much causing it to dry and crack inside. What else can I do to speed up the healing process?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,my name is dr,Dorina Gurabardhi.I understand your concern.
Ear pain may be caused by an ear :
-injury,
-inflammation,
-infection. The most common cause of ear pain is an ear infection.
Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Use eardrops for an earache.
-Olive oil, as well as some eardrops, may also help loosen earwax.
-Holding a warm flannel or cloth-covered hot-water bottle to the painful ear for around 20 minutes is one DIY form of treatment. However, if an ear infection is suspected, avoid getting the inside of the ear wet.
-Take antibiotics for ear infections.
-Treatment for ear pain may include over-the-counter, age-appropriate painkillers, such as aspirin or ibuprofen for pain and fever.
Hope my answer was helpful,if you have any other question I will be glad o answer, thanks!
