Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Left Ribs

I have severe pain in my left ribs. started out at one spot and now spread to full length of ribs and moving around to the back. I have lab work, xrays, ct scan, full body bone scan, and all are negative. Pain is increasing daily. What could it be?

Hi,

It can be costochondritis like musculoskeletal pain. Your CT scan and bone scan report normal. So organic cause seems less likely.

You can be prescribed a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug like Brufen or Naproxen for 5 days. A hot compress can be applied over that. You can investigate with serum calcium level to exclude Hypocalcemia.

You can Consult orthopaedic surgeon for a physical examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
