Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Rib Cage

had a cold-week later had terrible pain below left breast in rib cage. Got chest x ray and given 3 days of prednisone for bronchitis along with inhaler. DR said could be rib or muscle. Pain subsided for a week then is is back very severe again. any idea?
