General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The symptoms you describe is mostly encountered with nerve compression. While asleep, you may press on the brachial plexus for long and it will give you such a presentation when you wake up.Other possible cause of such condition may include:
-Peripheral neuropathy
-Ionic imbalances like low calcium, low magnesium
-Vitamin deficiency
-Neurologic disorders like MS
-Diabetic neuropathy
-Liver/kidney disorders
I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination and investigations.Test that may help identify the cause of such symptoms may include: full blood count, serum electrolytes, fasting blood sugar, vitamin levels, liver and kidney function...
In the meantime, you may try the following:
*Remain active
*Eat well and healthy with enough vegetables
*Take enough fluids
*Take a steroid drug like prednisolone for 5 days.Chronic use may have side effects
*A myorelaxant like miorel
If symptoms persist, you see the Doctor for investigation.
Hope this will help
Best regards
