Are you sure about your diagnosis of osteoarthritis (or DJD) ? If so follow the following.
degenerative joint disease makes your muscles weak as you will not be mobilizing well because of the joint pain. once your muscles gets weak they can not hold the joint properly leading to worsening of the DJD.
Because of this regular thigh muscle (quadriceps) exercise is the foremost important thing to do in order lessen the pain and increase joint stability.
my only suggestion here is having regular therapy. it is very difficult to explain here. please see the therapist locally and get personalized session with them for at least 1 month and you can do this at home.
Therapist can offer ultra sound/heat therapy and also local message.
hope you get well soon.
