Suggest Treatment For Severe Pressure In The Knee After Injury

I injured my knee 2 weeks ago in sports (level 1-2 MCL) with fluid on the knee. I am able to walk pretty easily now and want to get back into my walking group (2-3 miles per walk, not every day). I only feel the fluid pressure when bending the kneed significantly or using stairs so I know it s still there. Is it ok to carefully resume my walking habits and ice when I get back?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to relate to the injury.

I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications for the pain such as Acetaminophen.

I also suggest using ice compresses in the area of the pain.

I recommend to avoid overuse of the knee and immobilize the area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
