Suggest Treatment For Severe Sciatica Pain

I have severe sciatica pain shooting down back of my right leg. It started about 10years ago. I had epidural injections at the beginning in my sole. then I had 2-3 times right in my spine (lower back).Sometimes it almost going away, but it hurts so much while I need to drive a lot. And driving is part of my job. I had meloxicam, pain and spasms killers, but they do not help much. The pain is not letting me live normal life . I do exercise: yoga, zumba, at least once a week. I do some morning exercises all the time. I am thinking to go for laser surgery in Laser Spine Institute in Tampa.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of Sciatica. Sciatica pain can be relieved by epidural steroid injection along with stretch exercises, massage & acupuncture.

For pain management, you can visit a physiotherapist or a Counselor. Hot & cold compress are effective.

Your legs need rest. Take some time off so that you can have bed rest & let your nerves relax.

Anti-inflammatory & muscle relaxants work well. If you need surgical treatment you can contact a surgeon.

Get physically examined, get all nerve conduction tests, nerve biopsy is done so that you can be assessed whether you need laminectomy or Diskectomy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
