Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat In A Child

My 11 yr-old daughter has a sever sore throat. Last night it was so bad she was in tears. She says it hurts to swallow, or talk the most, but it hurts continually. It has gotten worse over the past two days. No drainage, and really no fever. Normal body temp for her is 97.4 and her highest temp last night was 99.5. Should I continue with just warm salt water gargle?
