Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband is 61 years old and is in stage 5 renal failure; he could start dialysis as soon as 6 to 8 weeks. He had his gallbladder removed at the beginning of July in an emergency situation. Although he is not having the same type of stomach issues, he is now experiencing stomach cramps in his lower abdomen. In addition, at times he feels like he needs to go, but is unable to go or has a small BM or diarrhea. His last colonoscopy was clear and another will be scheduled at age 65. Are his symptoms normal after the removal of the gallbladder.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe stomach cramps which seems to be due to disturbance of electrolytic balance of body due to post op complication.
Need not to worry. You should avoid intake of outside of food. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like ornidazole , albendazole , omeprazole. You should eat light and non spicy , eat fresh fruits and vegetables and eat fruits like banana. Take oral rehydrating solution as well. Since your colonoscopy is normal you need not to worry much.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
