Suggest Treatment For Severe Swelling In The Mouth Post An Injury
Hello, i recently broke a side tooth on the top right side of my mouth. Half of the tooth broke and the other half is still there, i woke up too a swollen cheek right above where the broken tooth is, what can this be? How can i reduce the swelling until i see a dentist this thursday!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe swelling in the mouth post an injury . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons mainly hematoma formation and tooth fracture. It could be due to foreign body entrance. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ortho and maxillofacial surgeon once for proper examination and get IOPA of that tooth done and start with proper course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications and vitamin supplement. Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. Maintain hygiene and doctor will restore the tooth if that is restorable and apply cold compresses and go for extraction if nonrestorable.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
