Suggest Treatment For Severe Tail Bone Pain

I am really hoping someone can point me to the right direction because the pain is unbearable. So about 5 days ago I started getting this pain in my butt crack about a cm from my tailbone down. The pain was manageable up til 2 days ago where it s just been getting worse and worse. And now I feel a ball about the size of a grape and it is very hard to the touch the whole area around it hurts. I can t sit. I can t stand and today I can t even walk without this pain!! Except for standing it hurts a little less. There is nothing visible. You can only feel it. It s not red. It s not oozing. No fever. Just nausea from the pain. I haven t fell. No trauma of any sort. I am really scared it might be something serious. But no doctors seem to be opened in the evening ! Help!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

While sitting, as the tail bone comes in direct contact with the surface and transmits body weight, it is under tension while sitting. This tension gets relieved when one is up and about. It is fairly common to expect weakness in the bone in this age group which causes pain while sitting. Stay calm and meet an orthopedic surgeon. You may need to get an X-ray of lumbosacral vertebrae to look for any osteoarthritis. He will decide whether to do Dexa scan of bones or not. You definitely need vitamin-D and calcium supplement along with painkillers like acetaminophen. Consume regular nutritional diet. Meet an orthopedic surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
