Suggest Treatment For Severe Tooth Pain

I've had an ache for several days. It seems to be located in a particular molar, but has affected other teeth too, even in the other jaw, and this evening I've noticed a swelling along most of my hard palate on the same side. Should I be consulting a GP or a dentist first?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that pain in your molar tooth can be most probably due to deep infection/decay in the tooth while it can also be due to fracture in tooth..

As it is affecting other teeth on the same side too it can be due radiating pain in other teeth originating from this tooth..

Swelling can be due to dental abscess formation caused due to infection in molar reaching below the root tips of the tooth..

I would suggest you to consult a Dentist and not a GP and get evaluated and he can take an x ray of the tooth for ruling out the exact condition of the tooth...

You can be advised a Root canal treatment or extraction of tooth depending upon the exact condition of the tooth followed by antibiotics and painkillers..

As of now you can take painkillers like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac to relieve pain and also do cool compresses over the swelling..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
