having severe toothache - dentist gave me hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325 itook 2 tablets 5 hours ago. started hurting again so took 1 tablet 1 1/2 hours ago srarted hurting again moments ago i know im slghtly over recomended dosage (1-2 tablets every 6-8 hours) - how soon could i take 1 more tablet to make it hopefully till morning im terrified of taking even a bit too much but in pain
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that there is deep decay in tooth and it is leading to irritation of the nerves leading to severe pain.. It can also be due to dental abscess formation due to infection reaching below the root tips of the tooth..
You have been advised appropriate painkiller that is to be taken every 6-8 hours but in case if there is severe pain even after that you can continue taking the same every 6 hours..
But to be clear the pain will not resolve completely with medication only and you need to consult a Dentist and get the tooth treated by either root canal treatment if tooth can be saved and it should be extracted if there is gross decay..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
