My son is 22 he has been diabetic his most of his life , recently he has been vomiting off and on for about 5 weeks. Went to dr did blood work and nothing then took him to hospital and they did bloodworm and said infection but had no fever. Put him on iv antibiotics for 5 days then oral ones. He is now finished medication and there is no change in how he feels. I am at my wits end and do not know what else to do for him. Yesterday he said he cannot live like this anymore .any insight what I might do?
Over time, diabetes can affect many parts of your body. One of those is the vagus nerve, which controls how quickly your stomach empties. When it's damaged, your digestion slows down and food stays in your body longer than it should and makes you vomit. This is a condition called gastroparesis.
There are many medications that can help you. like antihistaminic, motilium, reglan etc, but firstly manage you diabetes take it in control, and eat healthy foods low in fat and carbohydrates, rich in fiber. Everything has a solution.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
