Suggest Treatment For Severely Painful Optic Atrophy In Left Eye
Hi, I have Optic Neuritis (left eye) which my Ophthalmologist is now calling Optic Atrophy due to the nerves being pale and suggest I might have MS. I am suffering from a lot of pain behind my eyeball & I m having aches & pain both legs. I was prescribed Meloxicam (2 tablets 7.5mg a day) for it from my family doctor which isn t working all that well. What can I do to take the pain away, what should I be asking my doctor for. I m hearing numerous health hazards have been linked to NSAID s , and I don t want to be prescribed another one, unless i have too.
Based on the history you have shared, you should get fundoscopy done by an opthalmic examination and if needed slit lamp examination and intraocular pressure measurement may be needed.
If any signs of raised IOP or ICP is observed neurological opinion may be sought. Meanwhile if pain is severa tramadol may also be used along NSAIDS.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
