Suggest Treatment For Sharp Leg Pain

I fell yesterday and went over on the outside of my foot, I felt a searing pain shoot up my leg from my ankle, after a littel rest, I could walk on it but it is extremely painful when I rest, there is a little lump on the lower part beneath my ankle bone but no other swelling and I have constant pins and needles in the base of my foot and the 4th & 5th toes. I don't want to waste the hospitals time if it is merely strained/sprained...can you advise please?
