Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In Knee After Sugery

Hi, I had a R knee menus all surgery 10yrs back and was diagnosed with stage 2 chondromalacia. I currently experience periodic episodes of sharp pain when kneeling on it or buckling at times when going up or down stairs. I do squats 1-2 p/ week as this is supposed to balance the patella. Is it time for another surgery or am I not doing enough exercise?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The knee joint seems to be affected due to chondromalacia. I would suggest you to stop doing squats as it will worsen it. Get hot pads hot knee and over the counter painkillers like acetaminophen. You should get knee joint X-ray as well to see any meniscus or any other ligament injury.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
