Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In Lower Abdominal Area
When i sit up i have a sharp pain in my lower left abdominal area. But it almost feels like my left ovary. If turn on my side it will persist until i roll over on my back. It does not happen often but i do notice it after a have been drinking alcohol. Not sure if it becomes inflamed due to the amount i drink. I drink socially one a week. I have usually 6 drinks
Alcoholism is unlikely to be the cause of pain in lower left abdomen; also, alcoholism is not a common cause of inflammation of ovaries. Alcohol can cause gastritis/peptic ulcer (pain in upper middle abdomen-epigastrium) or liver disease.
If pain is not disturbing/severe, just try taking simple analgesics like paracetamol for 3-5 days to see the response. If persist or recurs, we can evaluate to find out the cause. Pain there can happen from conditions like constipation, urinary colic, or even a sprain over abdominal wall muscles. A local examination, urine routine test and ultrasound abdomen will clinch the diagnosis. Your doctor will guide you.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
