Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a 44 year old male. Recently(last 3-4 months) Have been experiencing pin stick sensations in both of my legs. These sensations feel like 1 individual stick and occur in random locations but are occuring more frequently. They started in my calfs and thighs but are now in the buttocks as well. also my calfs are sore like a bruised feeling without a bruise. This seems to be worse in the evenings and not too bad after sleeping. Seems to be aggrivated by clothing feels like somthing in fabric is sticking me when pants rub. currently taking lisinopril 25mg Diltiazem 120mg extended release
I was taking atenolol 25mg for palpatations but was switched to the diltiazem by cardiologist at my request as the pin stick sensations seemed to coincide with starting the atenolol.
Cardiologist had me get an echo cardiogram which came back normal.
Also note worthy is that I did have some shortness of breath sensation but that seemed to subside once the medication was changed.
My questions are could this be Peripheral Neuropathy ? seemed to start in legs not feet as some signs of Peripheral Neuropathy suggest.
Who should I consult for these type of symtoms?
Could it be medication related?
General thoughts as to what you think might be going on. Thanks for your time James
